Thanks-giving

Last year, a friend an I made a challenge of “no complaining” for the 40-day period of Lent.

It was incredibly transformational and I encourage you to do it. But this summer I slipped back into habitual complaining. Not excessively, because I consider myself an optimist, but enough to recognize it in my life.

Yesterday I determined to start again… but this time as “no complaining EVER.”

But as of a few minutes ago, my thoughts seemed to catch up on themselves and also determine that simply not complaining is not enough! What’s the opposite of complaining, you ask? Probably thanksgiving. And by that, I mean thanks-giving, giving thanks to the Creator. For He is in all, through all.

So, Thursday-lovers, don’t just be content with the self-claimed title of “optimist” or “positive thinker.” Challenge yourself. Give thanks! It’s a completely different lifestyle.

Oh yeah, and make sure to read Ann Voskamp‘s One Thousand Gifts. Literally revolutionary.
